When working out, sometimes it is easy to get lost in the motions of the movement. Merely just going through the motions to get through the 40 seconds. But what if I told you improving your mind muscle connection could give you even better results?!

Mind muscle connection is basically being mindful of the way your body and your muscles are moving and working during a workout. It has been scientifically proven that the more you improve your mind muscle connection the more you increase the number of muscle fibers being recruited when your perform your lift. MMC can be as simple as going into a bicep curl and remaining focused on your biceps while performing the entire rep resulting in a better quality muscle contraction and an overall better workout.
Two simple ways to begin implementing mind muscle connection are:
1. Quality over quantity – It is really important to use technique giving you a quality rep over throwing up that heavy weight and taking a damaging hit on your form. By using technique, this allows you to easily identify what muscle(s) should be working. This in turn will allow you to isolate the muscle(s) creating a stronger mind muscle connection.
2. Be intentional – Before starting any workout take a quick moment to set a “workout goal”. A simple goal such as “I am going to go 10 seconds longer today in my reps” or “I am not going to let my stressful day take a toll on my workout”.
